Dr. Jesse Sowards grew up in Las Cruces and is proud to call it home.  He graduated from Mayfield High School in 1993.  He then attended Brigham Young University where he did his pre-optometry studies and earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Spanish.  He then went to Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon where he received his Doctorate of Optometry degree.

Dr. Sowards has had a unique opportunity to work in many different settings that gave him a good background to address any eye care problems he may face.  He was able to do an internship at the Portland VA Hospital where he addressed many disease related issues.  He also was able to work in a Private practice where the emphasis was on children and vision problems.  Finally he worked in a Surgery co-management center were he was able to manage and treat patients pre and post operatively for a variety of surgeries including LASIK, and Cataract Surgery.  He was also one of the authors of the OrthoTools 2000, a contact lens fitting guide study manual.

Dr. Sowards is a member of the Cornea and Contact Lens sention and the Sports Vision section of the American Optometric Association.
